IOCC School Kit Drive

IOCC is partnering with Church World Service (CWS) to distribute school supply kits to needy children.

  • Location:  St. Sophia Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th St NW, Washington, DC 20007.
  • ITEMS NEEDED:
    • A 12" by 14" to 14" x 17" cotton or lightweight canvas bag with cloth handles (please, no reusable shopping bags or backpacks) and fill it with the following items:
      • One pair of blunt metal scissors (rounded tip).
      • Three 70-count spiral or tape-bound notebooks of 8" x 10-1/2" ruled paper totaling 200-210 sheets. Please do not provide loose-leaf or filler paper.
      • One 30-centimeter ruler (12").
      • One hand-held pencil sharpener.
      • Six new pencils with erasers.
      • One large eraser, 2-1/2".
      • One box of 24 crayons (only 24).
  • RSVP:  Lena Skiouris, IOCC DC Metropolitan Committee Chair at: ioccwashingtondc@gmail.com . Please specify which of the above items you will be bringing. The goal is for each person participating to bring with them 10 of one of the above requested items.  For example, if you would like to provide rulers, please provide them in increments of 10.
  • IOCC will provide boxes and transport the kits to the distribution center in Baltimore.
  • A pot-luck lunch will be served.  Let Lena know if you would like to participate in this regard as well.  Thank you for your help!

Bring 4 dozen of your favorite cookies to share and take home a variety of delicious cookies for your holiday parties.  Stay for the potluck lunch and enjoy the fellowship!

St. Mark Christmas Eve Holy Supper

Come spend Christmas Eve with St. Mark!  The evening begins with children leaving bread for the animals outside and seeking out the first star of the evening.  A pot- luck, candlelight lenten buffet, a Christmas story or two, and the remembrance of the living and departed of our community take us to the 7:00 PM start time for the Christmas Eve Vigil service. Please bring a lenten dish to share!
